Our friends at Hunt Auctions are honored to announce the offering of the personal collection from Hall of Fame catcher and Cincinnati Reds icon Johnny Bench. The collection will consist of materials dating from Bench’s Minor League career until after his final MLB season in 1983. The Bench Collection will be the showcase offering within the 17th Annual Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory Live Auction to be conducted this Saturday beginning at 10:30 am EST. Live bids can be placed at www.huntauctions.com.
Johnny Bench played his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds from 1967 – 1983. He was one of the leaders of the Big Red Machine that dominated the NL in the 1970s. During that era, he was a 2x World Series champion (1975, 1976). Mr. Bench was a 2x NL MVP, NL Rookie of the Year, 10x Gold Glove winner and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989. Many consider Mr. Bench to be the greatest catcher in baseball history. In 2011 he was honored with the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory Living Legend Award.
